Things that make you go hmmmm…

I’m sure that others will be covering this as well, but I couldn’t resist posting about it when I saw the article. The Independent have an article today which discusses some of the more unusual aspects of Japan’s soon to be First Lady, Hatoyama Miyuki.

In a book aptly named “Very Strange Things I’ve Encountered”, Hatoyama insists that she was abducted by aliens about 20 years ago, while she was sleeping. She says:

“While my body was asleep, I think my soul rode on a triangular-shaped UFO and went to Venus…It was a very beautiful place, and it was very green.”

She also recently noted that she knew Tom Cruise in a former life, when he was Japanese (aparrently vital preparation for his future role in The Last Samurai…)…

Its unlikely that this news will cause much of a stir back here in Japan. She is already being touted as a different kind of First Lady, with a much more visable role alongside the Prime Minister. I must say that in spite of her ‘quirkiness’ (I’m trying to be kind…), I’ve been looking for a more family oriented politician to sit at the head of this country. Its very rare that the family of politicians are even mentioned (unless they happen to be a son or daughter looking to get elected… or hoping to become a famous actor…), and its about time Japanese politicians showed a more ‘family-freindly’ side to themselves…
