Guyjin Blog Celebrates First Birthday!
Yes, today this blog is officially one year old, and still (barely) kicking… I would be lying if I were to say that it has been all that I hoped it would be over the past year, as I’ve struggled to keep up with the pace that I was able to set early on in terms of posting every day.
A few stats… In our first year, Guyjin had just under 16,000 visitors, and a total of 25,782 hits. We also have 89 subscribers to our RSS feed. There were 282 posts for the year, and the post that garnered the most interest was my “Japanese Words” post on “Gokurosama and Otsukaresama”, which just yesterday passed 1,500 hits! I guess I’ll be writing a few more in the “Japanese Words” series in the coming weeks and months…. The next most popular post was another Japanese language related post – “How I’ve Learned Japanese Part 1 – Desu & Masu”, which has now had almost 700 hits.
So what lies ahead for Guyjin…? My personal situation will be changing in a major way over the coming months (more about that in due course), which I am hoping will provide me with the opportunity to devote a little more attention to this blog. I have plenty of plans, so it will be interesting to see just how much gets accomplished by this time next year… One thing I am happy about is that in spite of the often late postings of “ratings and rankings” info., as well as the slow pace of other posts over the last few months, I am still surprised that this blog has lasted in one form or another for a whole year.
I really hope to get back to a lot more news and information about Japanese society, politics, and general interest stories, as well as a lot more Japanese language related content in the coming year. I hope those of you that may have stuck your nose in from time to time while the site has been stagnating over the past several months will continue to do so, and will find a lot more new material to interest you in the coming months. Thank you to everyone that has visited, commented, linked to this site, and otherwise supported Guyjin over the past year. I plan to be around for many more….
