Japan Themed 2011 Calendars, and a World Record
According to Oricon Japan, the 2010 Pokemon Calendar sold by McDonalds Japan has achieved the world record for the highest sales of any calendar in the world. This record was acknowled by the Guiness World Records, and was officially recognized on the 18th of last month in Tokyo. The 2010 calendar, which sold for 300 yen, sold 1,476,422 copies since its release on November 6, 2009.
McDonalds Japan has sold a Pokemon calendar every year since 2006, with sales typically around 1 million units per year. But this year saw a major boost. Sales are expected to be strong again for 2011. The 2011 edition went on sale a few days ago.
