UPI: Detailed map of Japanese tsunami created
Researchers in Japan say they’ve created a map of the tsunami generated by the deadly March 11 earthquake, surveying 5,300 spots along the country’s coast.
The tsunami that devastated large areas of coastal eastern Japan, traveling more than 3 miles inland and killing more than15,000 people, has now been mapped in detail for the first time, researchers report in the journal Geophysical Researcher Letters.

BBC: Japan may consider being part of Greece bailout plan
Japan has said that it would consider being part of a global plan to help bailout Greece.
Finance Minister Jun Azumi said eurozone countries needed to come up with a rational plan to ease global concerns.
Mr Azumi’s comments come a day after the Nikkei 225 index fell to a two-and-a-half year low amid fears that the debt crisis may slow global growth.

BBC: Tepco faces new compensation claims
Tepco, the operator of Japan’s stricken Fukushima nuclear power plant, is to face a new round of compensation claims from businesses.
Tepco has so far paid out $1.6 bn (£1bn) in provisional compensation to evacuees but analysts believe the total compensation bill could reach as high as $130bn.

ABC Australia: Japan set to lift some Fukushima restrictions
The Japanese government has announced it will be lifting the evacuation advisory for five towns near the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant.
The order will allow about 30,000 people to return to their homes once they have been decontaminated.
